Valley Neighbors Committees
Valley Neighbors is looking for kind souls willing to provide a little neighborly support to our senior members in Deerfield, Sunderland and Whately. Choose the time and the support activities that fit your interests, schedule and skills. Besides direct support, we welcome those with administrative experience, e.g., event planning, grant writing, technology, organization management, publicity, etc.
The committees below need you and are a vital part of our mission to help seniors age in place. Please join us and share your skills!
Membership and Volunteer Services Committee
- Recruit and welcome new members and volunteers
- Do new member and volunteer intake
- Conduct volunteer orientations and trainings
- Coordinate volunteers to fill member requests (call management)
Call Managers work from home on a rotating schedule to coordinate requests
Communications Committee
- Promotes Valley Neighbors with local newspapers, other media and press
- Creates and directs publication of articles about VN and its activities.
- With the Tech committee, informs our VN community via our website, newsletters, social and print media, and by keeping printed materials in supply
Programs Committee
- Plan and organize community events, social programs, relevant presentations
- Organize and present at community events
- Create content for newsletters, VN website, printed materials
The Programs and Communications Committee are two very important committees whose tasks intertwine
Tech Committee
- Provide support to members on smart phones, TV’s, computers, and other electronic devices
- Help manage member and volunteer communications using our CRM software
- Work with Communications and Programs Committees
Fundraising Committee
- Raise money for Valley Neighbors to sustain itself and its programs
- Research grant funding sources and apply for grants
- Recruit sponsors including banks, businesses, state or municipal sponsors
- Solicit donations from members, volunteers, and other community friends
The Fundraising Committee helps raise funds to cover the cost of free memberships and services.
