  • Creating Inviting Gardens for Birds

    Want to attract more birds to your yard and gardens? Dan Ziomek is a local community member, with decades of experience in the retail gardening industry (e.g., Sugarloaf Gardens, Hadley Garden Center), and degrees in Nursery Management and Plant and Soil Science. An avid gardener, landscaper, and birding enthusiast, Dan will share with us how to make our yards and gardens attractive to and safe for birds. He will bring many plant specimens and show us how plants can be strategically placed to attract the widest variety of bird species. Please join us and bring your questions!

  • Toys, Games and their Makers: 1880-1950

    Join Valley Neighbors and Whately Historical Society to hear Ann Lomeli take us back in time with a presentation that is a companion to the current Whately Historical Society Exhibit: Childhood in Whately 1771-1950. The exhibit has many toys and games on display and every one of them has a story. Ann will tell us some of the most intriguing stories, and more. The Museum exhibit will be open for visitors after the talk.

    Learn how to prevent foot wounds or even a fall as well as ways to release tension and reduce pain so that you can move better. Moving more freely enables better balance. Andrea Conrad, RN of FootCare by Nurses, who is passionate about caring for her community of older adults, will talk about foot care for better health. From shoe lacing techniques that reduce toe tip calluses, to skin care and working on release techniques, there is a lot more to caring for your feet than most people know.
